About Us
Black Women in Product & Design is a community of Black women professionals in the design and product industries, committed to creating a safe space for collaboration, support, and empowerment.
Our goal is to build a strong network of professionals who understand and uplift each other's unique experiences.
We come together to share our experiences, challenges, and successes and to foster meaningful connections among our members.
Our Why
At Black Women in Product & Design, our goal is to create a vibrant and inclusive community where Black women professionals in the design and product industries can thrive. We are driven by a shared mission to uplift, support, and empower each other by providing a safe space for collaboration and meaningful connections.
We understand the importance of building a strong network of professionals who embrace and uplift each other's unique experiences. By coming together, we share our stories, challenges, and successes, fostering an environment of growth and mutual support. We believe that when we support one another, we can achieve greatness together.
However, our mission extends beyond professional development. We are deeply committed to giving back to our communities. Through volunteering, we engage in outreach programs at local schools, where we network, mentor, and educate middle and high school girls about our industries. By hosting guest speakers, design challenges, and lunch & learns, we expose young girls to new career paths, bridging the education and wage gap. We firmly believe that representation matters, and we are dedicated to empowering the next generation of Black women in the design and product fields.
Statistics show that Black women are often underrepresented in design and product positions. Research reveals that they make up only a small percentage of professionals in these industries, facing unique challenges and barriers to career advancement. Black Women in Product & Design is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment where Black women professionals can thrive, connect, and make a meaningful impact in their respective industries.
Located in Richmond, Virginia, we are proud to be part of the local community while advocating for change on a broader scale.
